RSCDS Book IX. – No. 3.
 (Strathspey)
   
1 – 8    1st couple dance a reel of three with 2nd man, 1st woman passing 2nd man with the left shoulder to begin the reel.

9 – 16    1st couple dance a reel of three with 2nd woman, 1st woman passing 2nd woman with the left shoulder to begin the reel.

17 – 20    1st couple set to each other across the dance then turn with two hands.

21 – 24    1st couple dance down between 2nd couple and cast up to the top.

25 – 32    1st and 2nd couples allemande.

Repeat, having passed a couple.

The Manual of Scottish Country Dancing:
Bars 15 – 16    As 1st man crosses to his place from the centre of the reel, 1st woman dances the long way round into place to complete the reel. 2nd woman may also dance the long way round into place.

TACNotes:’
1 – 8          Reel is danced on men’s side, 1st woman finishing by crossing back to original place from 1st man’s     position. Men finish in original positions.
9 – 16    Reel is on women’s side finishes with 1st man, from the centre of reel, crossing back to original place as 1st & 2nd women dance long way round into their original positions.
19 – 20    1st cpl turn 2H to finish facing down, nearer hands joined.

1- 8    1s set, cast 2 places & dance up to top (end with 2s stepping in below 1s)

9-16    1s+2s dance Poussette (end with 1s facing 1st corners)

17-24    1s dance ½ diagonal reel of 4 with 1st corners & dance ½ reel with 2nd corners (1s end 2nd place opposite side)

25-32    3M+1M+2M petronella turn into centre & set while 3L+1L+2L set & petronella turn into centre, all turn partners RH (end in Allemande hold)

33-40    3s+1s+2s dance Allemande




THE  TWA  MEENIT  REEL.
Devised by Roy Clowes.
A reel for four couples in a longways set.

1 – 4    1st and 3rd ladies cast off one place and dance into the centre line of the dance to finish facing up the dance. Meanwhile 2nd and 4th men cast up one place and dance into the centre line of the dance to finish 2nd man facing 1st lady, and 4th man facing 3rd lady.
   
5 – 12    1st and 3rd ladies with 2nd and 4th men dance a reel of four up and down the centre line of the dance. To start the reel 2nd man passes 1st lady right shoulder and 4th man likewise with 3rd lady.

13 – 16    1st lady with 2nd man and likewise 3rd lady with 4th man turn each other three quarters round by the right hand to return to places.

17 – 20    1st man with 2nd lady, and likewise 3rd man with 4th lady, turn each other by the right hand once round and return to places.

21 – 24    1st couple with 2nd couple and likewise 3rd couple with 4th couple dance four hands round to the left.
   
25 – 28    All joining hands on the sidelines, dance advance and retire.

29 – 32    1st couple, right hands joined, lead to 4th place, while 2nd, 3rd and 4th couples join nearer hands and step up on bars 29-30.

Repeat with a new leading couple.

The Laird of Milton’s Daughter
RSCDS Book 22 – No. 10
32-bar jig for three couples in a four-couple longwise set

1 – 8    1st couple set and, giving right hands, cross over, cast off one place and,    giving left hands, turn to face first corners. 2nd couple step up on bars 5-6.

9 – 16    1st couple and first corners dance a corner chain. 1st couple finish facing second corners.

17 – 24    1st couple and second corners dance a corner chain. 1st couple finish in second place on own sides.

25 – 32    2nd, 1st and 3rd couples dance six hands round and back.

Repeat, having passed a couple.

17-24     The turn for 1st cpl on bars 23-24 is really a slow crossing to own sides, giving LH.
