Dances for November 25

We will be focusing on dances for the Christmas social for the rest of the fall session. Tonight will be the last of the new dances for the fall.

The main lesson will be Joie de Vivre. The focus will be on the 3 couple allemande. Although the rest of the dance also provides a challenge for new dancers. We are hoping to have a quick review of Allt An Duin. We covered it a few weeks ago. Hopefully some of it will come back

See you tonight!

Dances for November 18, 2010

Tonight we will be covering a new formation - poussette. Usually a challenge because it requires all Pas de Basque. Don't worry we will take it in small pieces. The dances this week are from the Christmas Social program.

Tonight we also have a round the room dance. This will be unfamiliar with both the basic and intermediate classes.

Dances for November 4 Class

Welcome to the class on November 4. Tonight we will not be joining with the intermediates after the break. The intermediates will be joined by the Experienced dancers.

We will be covering a few more dances from the Kingston Ball program. There are four dances included here but we don't expect to get through all of them. If the number of dancers work out we will do The Barmkin which is in a square set. Something new for the class. All the dances are popular dances and well worth learning.

See you tonight

Original tune:  The Drunken Piper or Highland Rory Alex. McLeod, c. 1880

The original instructions in the form of notes, written by Tom Harris-Hunter on a scruffy piece of paper when he was a prisoner of war, clearly show that the dance was intended for a five couple set as it is still danced in Perthshire.
